Our fee for one to one fly fishing and fly casting tuition is £22 per hour . Because of very high fuel charges we regret that minimum period of tuition is 2 hours. The Fee for a half day is £65 and for a full 7 hour day is £130.
For extra anglers please add £25 per angler making the total cost for 2 anglers for half a day £90 or £155 for a full day . PLEASE NOTE that these fees are the total fees and not per person .
Charges for our 3 hour courses can be found under the individual course on the Courses & Events page
Payment can be made by either cash or cheque .
Tuition Gift Vouchers
If you know someone who is considering having fly fishing instruction or fly casting lessons then why not purchase a voucher as a gift which can cover the cost of tuition or can be put towards it. Vouchers are available from £25 upwards.
Tuition Waters
Instruction takes place on well stocked private day ticket or Association waters where catch and release is permitted.
A permit is required to fish these waters and varies in price from about £10 – £25 depending on whether or not fish are to be killed. Normally permits are bought at the venue but some have to be purchased in advance and we are happy to do this for you. We will advise you of the permit requirements for the water to be used.
For casting only it may be possible to use grass or the “free” stretch of the River Kent in Kendal thus keeping costs down.
If you prefer to have the tuition on a water you are familiar with then we are happy to travel a reasonable distance but may have to include a small extra charge to cover fuel costs.
All Clients aged 12 years and upwards must be in possession of Environment Agency fishing licences prior to instruction taking place. You can purchase day, 8 day or season licences from any Post Office or online from the Environment Agency website http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk
Unless you intend to fish for migratory fish (Salmon and Sea Trout) at some stage in the year then the licence to buy is the Non Migratory Trout and Coarse Fish version. Currently the fees are £3.75 for a day, £10 for 8 days or £27 for the season. The season licence runs from 1 April or date of issue until 31 March the following year.
Clothing
Please ensure that you have ample warm clothing suitable for the time of year along with waterproof outer clothing in case the weather is wet or cold. For footwear we suggest wellingtons or waterproof boots. Wading is not undertaken except for some river instruction.
We also recommend that you bring a wide brimmed hat or baseball type cap and polarised sunglasses both for safety and fish spotting opportunity.
Food/Drinks/Toilet Facilities
Some of the fisheries used sell or provide hot drinks and some have food for sale. Again some have toilet facilities but such facilities are not available on Association waters. We will naturally advise you of the facilities prior to your tuition.

FISHING FLIES
Vera is one of the casting instructors actively involved with Casting for Recovery which is a charity established to introduce Ladies who have or who are recovering from breast cancer to the gentle art of fly fishing. Each year Casting for Recovery hold several retreats where the ladies can learn fly fishing in relaxed environments.
Many excellent fly tyers generously donate superb flies for use either at these retreats or to help with the fund raising of this wonderful Charity and if you are in need of suitable trout flies for your fishing we can make up boxed sets of these flies suitable for your needs and all proceeds from the sale are donated to Casting for Recovery to help with the running costs of the retreats. Boxed sets of approximately 55 flies are £25. Please contact us for further information.
