Tuition Costs and General Information

Tuition charges are £15 per hour (I regret that because of very high fuel charges the minimum tuition period is 2 hours), £50 for a 4 hour half day session or £100 for a full 8 hour day.

For extra anglers please add £20 per angler making the cost of a half day £70 between 2 anglers ,or £90 between 3 anglers. Similarly a full day for 2 anglers would be £120 or £140 for 3 anglers. PLEASE NOTE that these are total costs and not per person and these charges reflect the fact that when more than one person is receiving instruction then the amount of individual attention is reduced. A full day of tuition for 2 anglers therefore only costs £60per angler

Tuition Gift Vouchers

If you know someone who is considering having fly fishing instruction why not purchase a voucher as a present which can cover all the instruction or can be put towards part of it. They are available from £25 upwards.

Tuition Waters

All instruction takes place on well stocked , private day ticket waters and not small ponds stocked with very easy to catch Trout. Catch and release is permitted so the correct techniques have to be employed to have a chance of a Trout taking the fly.

A permit must be purchased to fish the water and there is usually a choice of a permit which allows you to retain fish and then fish on returning fish or a sporting one which allows you to fish but all fish caught must be returned. Prices vary and I will be happy to advise. On some waters I can arrange to buy the permits in advance.

Fishing Licences

All Clients aged 12 years and over must be in possession of current Environment Agency fishing licences which are issued by all Post Offices. You can purchase day, 8 day or season ones and unless you want to fish specifically for Salmon or Sea Trout then the non migratory licence is the one to buy and is considerably cheaper than the migratory fish one. If you are unsure which to purchase I will be happy to advise . The licences can also be bought on line from the Environment Agency (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk)

Clothing

Please ensure that you have ample warm clothing suitable for the time of year and that you also have a waterproof coat and Wellingtons. Waders are not needed except on rivers. Often just trainers will suffice but I will advise nearer the time depending on the likely weather to be encountered.

I also recommend a wide brimmed hat or baseball type cap and a pair of polarised glasses both from a safety angle and fish spotting opportunity.

Food

Some of the fisheries used sell hot /cold snacks and several provide complimentary coffee or tea. I will advise you in advance on the availability and on some waters it is best to bring your own food and drinks.

If you would like to know more please complete the enquiry form on the contact page and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively if you feel happier discussing your requirements in person then you can phone me on either 07886 817770, 07853 421802 or 01539 733297 before 9.00pm.
